Getting to Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico
Ensenada is located 100 km south of the United States (San Diego) border. It is 1:30 hrs from Tijuana Airport (Tijuana, Baja California, MÉXICO) and 2 hrs from San Diego International Airport. Bus transportation to travel to Ensenada is available at the Tijuana Airport. If you are driving from the US, take Interstate US 5 south to Tijuana. As you cross the border, keep to your right. Look for the exit to Ensenada Toll Road (Ensenada Cuota) about ~0.5 km (1/3 of a mile) after border-crossing. Follow signs to Ensenada until you reach the first toll-booth. The highway has three toll-booths. The first two cost $26.00 pesos or its equivalent in dollars (~$1.90), the third one cost $29.00 pesos (~$2.20). You can pay in pesos or dollars but not mixed. Ensenada is about 100 km south (62 miles) south of Tijuana, Baja California, MÉXICO. After the third booth you will be about 16 km (10 miles) from Ensenada. The UABC campus is off the highway on the right hand side just before the Ensenada entrance.
Just passing the UABC campus (you will see a bridge for cars getting to The University from the south), there is a fork, keep to your right (along the coast; sign says ZONA TURISTICA-SAN QUINTIN). Continue on that road for about 3.2 km (two miles) until you reach Ensenada (first traffic light). Remain on that road, pass a second traffic light and go down for about a 1.6 km (1 mile).
Upon return to San Diego International Airport, please leave from 3-5 hours of time for travel. The US-MÉXICAN border is one of the busiest border crossings in North America.
